From Policy Stagnation to Momentum

Lately it feels like we are at a tipping point—where the weight of old barriers could give way to momentum for something better. Together, we’re stepping into a new era of possibility, where abundance isn’t just an idea but a tangible outcome within reach. For these reasons I’m especially excited about the work we are doing at the Abundance Institute. Below is some of my and my colleagues’ latest.

Unleashing Abundance In America

This week, I shared our vision for an energy abundant future on CSPAN’s Washington Journal with Pedro Echevarria. In addition to a few great calls, we discussed the policies a Trump Administration could support to unleash energy abundance in the United States.

This is the crucial four years here. We are at an inflection point where there seems to be appetite among the American people and politically to try new things and unleash an energy abundant future. We like to say that the path to prosperity is through energy abundance. So, if we are going to make fixes, we should start them now.

This is one of those shows with live calls from around the US so it can provide a snapshot of opinion from outside DC. You never totally know what you’re going to get, so I was very pleased by and enjoyed the enthusiasm for new energy technologies from multiple callers to the show. We had an on-air brainstorm about the future. If you watch the video, it’s worth it to hear what people are excited about!

If you don’t have time to watch my interview in full, you can get the highlights from my op-ed in the Washington Examiner.

AI and Elections Wrap Up

ICYMI our final report in our series on AI the the 2024 elections is up. As major organizations have reflected on the role AI played, we all agree that fears of AI disrupting elections were overstated and while AI-generated content surfaced, it constituted only a minor component of the overall election cycle.

Part V: The Abundance Institute AI and Post-Election Update

Welcome to the post-election installment of our four-part series on AI and the 2024 election. Part I was published on May 9, 2024, 180 days out from the November election. Part II was published on August 7th, 2024, 90 days out from the November election.

Faith and AI

Right after the election, I joined my wife Rachel Barkley to discuss how Christians can steward a materially abundant society at a Faith and Law event on Capitol Hill. We dove into the cultural and theological frameworks that make an abundant future possible. Topics range from the Tower of Babel to social media and teens to artificial intelligence. I really enjoyed speaking to and with an enthusiastic audience of congressional staff, government agency staff, and other policy and ministry professionals. You can listen or watch the whole talk here.
